More recently, we have made a complete guide on a pretty popular card game Splinterlands. For a good start in the game, it is necessary to build powerful decks. Moreover, there is no universal recipe for a great start in our guide — everyone starts the game with different investments and strategies on the battlefield.
In addition, we have already made a review of the best starter cards in the game. Make sure to check it as well!
Today, it’s time to take a look at neutral cards in Splinterlands and try to build a perfect team of powerful creatures. Neutral cards can be used when playing on any creature, and with the right strategy, they can radically change tactics and enhance your combat set. Let’s get started!
Let’s conditionally divide neutral cards into several groups. We will not include medium-strength cards from the standard set as they are often at a disadvantage to cards of a specific class due to a combination of factors.
Tank Cards
Each class has its own best tanks. Now we will talk about those cards that will look more advantageous in some decks.
This card works well against shield heroes (Life class) with a lot of mana. Due to the high cost, it is unprofitable to use it with mana less than 30. However, due to its high speed and a large shield, Goblin becomes a well-played card with 99+ mana. Its Piercing ability allows you to ignore card shields and take as much damage as possible.
-
- The market price is about $4.
-
- The rental price is minimal — less than 1 DEC per day.
We have already mentioned this card in our review on the Water deck, but let’s go through it once again. This card is an excellent tank option for magic and anti-magic decks, as it reflects magic damage. From the fifth level, the card receives a second ability — reducing magic damage.
-
- The market price is about $20, or 3700 DEC.
-
- The rental price is 4 DEC per day.
This card was classified as a tank, as it can be successfully deployed both as the first and last cards. For every creature that dies on the battlefield, Cube gains +1 health. This card works best with a large number of creatures with low health and damage.
-
- The market price is about $2.3, or 230 DEC.
-
- The rental price is 0.1 DEC per day.
It is the most expensive card in our guide. We would not include it in our review, but its rental price is fully justified and not overpriced, i.e., almost every player can afford it. Why is it so cool? The Lord becomes a versatile player against both a magic deck and melee damage for a low cost. From the second level, this card has +2 health and the ability to reflect magic damage.
-
- The rental price is 12 DEC per day.
The prices on the Sprinterlands cards market are unreasonably high, so we advise you to rent all the necessary cards. With active play in the higher leagues, you can safely cover the rental cost and earn a decent amount of money.
Surprise Cards
Cards of this category can significantly change the mechanics of your battle — attack and defense. The use of these cards is very situational, but with the right opponent’s deck, they are second to none.
This card works well against tanks with the Taunt ability and creatures with high damage. It has several clear advantages — a very low mana cost, an additional shield (+1 physical hit that the card can withstand), and a very cool ability. The Alchemist’s hit decreases the card’s damage at which the hit is directed. Strong melee tanks in the first line can lose half of their strength from the first hit.
-
- The market price is about $60.
-
- The rental price is 8 DEC per day.
You should use this card for a quick attack. Using creatures with high speed and reducing the opponent’s one, you can win with a quick attack.
-
- The market price is about $7, or 650 DEC.
-
- The rental price is 1 DEC per day.
It is the only card with zero mana cost. Accordingly, the first card’s hit will always go to Chicken, which gives a significant advantage.
-
- The market price is about $30.
-
- The rental price is 6 DEC per day.
Damage Cards
These are cards that, in some sets, work more efficiently than damage cards of other classes.
This card is a must-have at the initial stages, with a large set of mana in battle. It has several advantages — high damage and a focus on the last monster in battle. It lacks health and speed, so it is optimal to use a shield summoner or additional damage (to eliminate opponents quickly).
-
- The market price is less than $2, or 170 DEC.
-
- The rental price is 0.1 DEC per day.
Very few creatures are versatile in any position. First of all, these are creatures with the Sneak ability (most often, they have low health). This card is good because it works well in 2-3 positions (due to its good speed) and in the tank’s position (due to its higher attack, good health, and the ability to reflect damage received in melee combat).
-
- The rental price is less than 1 DEC per day. It is an excellent price for a card of this level.
Conclusion
Neutral cards are a great help to beginners. Build the best decks and wait for our review of the hardest class in the game — the Dragon class.
